I started Pilates during the lockdown. Constant sitting had made my bad hips worse and a constant pinching that could never be cured. I am a “stretchy” person so I could always perform any task a physio would ask me to do which always ended with the same outcome, ” you have full mobility and good strength, you shouldn’t hurt so much, keep stretching”.
I started online classes, after the first class, I realised that all of my small hip muscles seemed to be the issue. After a week of classes the pinching that had been around for a couple of years had subsided. I could walk longer distances without my legs being in pain. I used to be very active but due to the pain, I felt in my legs when I ran or walked I just didn’t want to walk or run very far.
Six months on from starting my Pilates journey, I am very happy to say that I am able to run 5.7 Km’s without stopping and I’m pain free.
I would certainly recommend Mary as it is clear she is passionate about making a difference for people. She takes the time to understand your mobility issues to make sure you get the most out of her classes. No matter you skill / mobility level, she always has 2-3 variations of the exercises. Mary is very open to feedback for any issues that you may be having to ensure you are getting the most from the classes.
The adaption to online classes has been fantastic, studio classes are often fully booked. I really enjoy the flexibility of having access to the online classes and video library so I can do my classes anywhere and anytime.
Please keep the online classes going, they have been a life changer.
