I first started pilates with Mary a few years ago. It was suggested by my osteo to help me manage back and sciatic pain, which had been bothering me for quite a few months. I’ve been a regular attender ever since! Within a few months, with Mary’s guidance, I was able to move my body more freely and was pain free (which on the whole, I’ve been able to maintain since). I loved that Mary met with me one on one initially to get to know me and my body, and set a program just for me. The small group classes are fantastic because having only 4 people in the class means that Mary still individualizes each exercise to meet my needs, and she is able to correct my technique to ensure I’m getting the most out if each exercise. Mary is fantastic at checking in at the start of each class how I am and how my body is feeling so she can target any niggles throughout the class. Pilates has also helped me to be more in tune with how my body moves which has made me more confident when working out independently at the gym between classes. During the lockdowns due to Covid-19 I have been pregnant, and have been so grateful for Mary sending me individual pregnancy appropriate classes I can continue regular pilates from my own living room while I haven’t been able to go to the studio. These have been targeted towards preparing my body as it changes throughout pregnancy, childbirth and beyond. I would recommend Mary to anyone, whether you have injuries/pain or not. My husband now also attends classes with Mary and he too has reaped the benefits.
